Technical Update
Golden Queen Mining Co. Ltd. is developing the Soledad Mountain Project (the Project) in southern California as a gold/silver heap leach operation.
Flow Sheet
A flow sheet that uses a high pressure grinding roll (HPGR) for preparing the ore for heap leaching has been developed for the Project.
The primary ore types that will be mined are rhyolite (68.1 %) and quartz latite (21.3 %).
The HPGR and confirmation bottle roll and column leach test work on the rhyolite ore has been completed.
Quartz Latite Test Sample
A sample of quartz latite ore was taken for HPGR and confirmation bottle roll and column leach tests in April 2004. The HPGR tests were done with a range of specific press forces in the laboratory of Polysius AG in Germany in September and November 2004. The samples have been returned to McClelland Laboratories, Inc. in Nevada where the leach tests are underway.

These recoveries compare favorably to gold and silver recoveries of 70.4 % and 39.6 % respectively, obtained in duplicate bottle roll tests on a sample of quartz latite ore in 1997 in 120 hours of leaching. Conventional crushing and screening was used to prepare the ore sample for the leach test work.
An independent qualified person has confirmed the above test results.
Summary
Polysius AG is preparing the detailed design of the commercial HPGR, which will have the ability to operate with a maximum specific press force of 5.0 N/mm2.
All indications are that the HPGR will be an effective tool to prepare ores for heap leaching and the HPGR will be key for a viable project.
The indicated benefits of using the HPGR will be:
• Higher recoveries in a heap leach operation due to micro-fracturing of particles;
• Lower capital costs when compared to a conventional crushing-screening plant;
• Lower energy consumption and thus lower operating costs.
Feasibility Study
Every element of the Project is being reengineered in an effort to find sound technical and cost-effective solutions. This work is proceeding rapidly and it is expected that this can be completed by December 31, 2004.
